Commissioned piece. The clients were farmers living in a Victorian built house. Their furniture was traditional with much of it in English oak. They requested a piece to display ornaments that reflected their traditional taste. They also liked the idea of something with a slightly more contemporary feel that still fitted in with the rest of their furnishings. They had a small stock of oak stickered and drying in a shed that had been there for many years. This stored oak came from one of the fields on the farm and they wanted it incorporated into their new piece of furniture.
